Carbon Literacy Training

What is Carbon Literacy Training?
Created by The Carbon Literacy Project, Carbon Literacy Training is a one-day workshop that gives a person knowledge about climate change, carbon footprints, strategies and actions for change, and why it’s relevant to you and your audience. The training is delivered by facilitators who are peers of their audience within a specific sector, in this case, theatre and the performing arts, and covers:
- The science behind climate change
- Social equity & climate change
- What you can do to act on climate change, individually and within theatre and the performing arts.
- Strategies and skills for communicating action on climate change.
The Carbon Literacy Project is globally unique – there is nothing else quite like it anywhere. It was recognised as such by the UN at COP21, in Paris, where it was awarded as a TAP100, one of 100 worldwide Transformative Action Programs. It is ideally suited to those in the performing arts looking to establish a strong foundational knowledge of the climate crisis and how they, and their industry, can respond, or for those with existing knowledge looking for an opportunity to delve deeper into actions and strategies for change. Participants receive certification via the Carbon Literacy Project as part of the training.

Actor, theatremaker, and certified carbon literacy facilitator Catherine Abigail Ward delivers the course, which can be tailored to the group's needs and delivered in person or online, and if necessary, split into multiple sessions. Costs are deliberately kept low to enable the maximum number of creatives to access the training.
